Wine based cocktails for Summer

Summer is upon us, bringing with it the warm embrace of sun-soaked days and balmy evenings. It’s a season that beckons for refreshing drinks, moments of relaxation, and gatherings with friends. As we dive into this glorious time of year, let’s elevate our summer soirées with a curated selection of exquisite cocktails that are perfect for any occasion. Picture yourself sipping on a classic Negroni Sbagliato, savoring the sophisticated blend of a Vesper, feeling the zing of a Ginger Lime Spritz, celebrating with the effervescence of a French 75, or indulging in the sweet and floral notes of a Strawberry Rosé Spritzer.

COCKTAILS

NEGRONI SBAGLIATO

TRADITIONAL TWIST

The Negroni Sbagliato, a delightful twist on the traditional Negroni, replaces gin with sparkling wine, we recommend a Asti Spumanti instead of prosecco, offering a refreshing and bubbly surprise. Legend has it that this version was created by accident in the 1970s at Bar Basso in Milan when a bartender mistakenly used prosecco instead of gin. Its harmonious blend of Camparisweet vermouth, and Asti Spumante over ice is perfect for those who love a bit of bitterness balanced with effervescence.

Summer Cocktails

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

Mix equal parts Campari and Martini over ice and top with Asti Spumante as preferred. Garnish with a slice of orange.

COCKTAILS

VESPER

SMOOTH & POTENT

For those who seek a more potent, yet elegantly smooth option, the Vesper is a sophisticated choice. Made famous by James Bond in Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel “Casino Royale,” this cocktail combines gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc, garnished with a lemon twist. Its strong, crisp flavors are ideal for a refined summer evening, allowing you to channel your inner secret agent. We use Tanquerray Gin with a Ciroc Vodka

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

Add the gin, vodka and Lillet blanc into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Shake vigorously for 20–30 seconds, until ice cold.

Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink, rub the twist along the rim of the glass and drop it into the cocktail.

COCKTAILS

FRENCH 75

STYLISH & ELEGANT

No summer cocktail list would be complete without the French 75, a classic that dates back to World War I. Named after the French 75mm field gun, which was known for its speed and precision, this elegant drink mixes gin we’ve gone for Tanquerray, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup, topped with champagne. Its bright, citrusy notes and celebratory bubbles make it perfect for toasting special moments under the summer sun.

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

Add the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a Champagne flute. Top with the Champagne or sparkling wine of choice. Garnish with a lemon twist.

COCKTAILS

GINGER LIME SPRITZ

VIBRANT & COOL

The Ginger Lime Spritz is a vibrant concoction that bursts with zesty freshness. While its exact origins are unclear, spritz-style cocktails have been a staple of European aperitivo culture since the 19th century, evolving from simple combinations of wine and soda. This version combines the stunning Bottega Gold Prosecco  the tang of fresh lime juice, the warm spice of ginger syrup, and the sparkle of soda water, making it a light and invigorating drink that will keep you cool on the hottest days.

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

Muddle ginger in a cocktail shaker. Add lime juice and simple syrup. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into 4 ice-filled rocks glasses or large wine glasses. Add Prosecco to each and top off with club soda. Gently stir together; garnish with mint.

COCKTAILS

ROSE SANGRIA

refreshing crowd pleaser

Finally, the Rosé Sangria offers a beautiful balance of sweet and fruity. This delightful sangria combines crisp, dry rosé wine such as the delightful Whispering Angel with fresh fruits and a splash of Grand Marnier. The result is a sweet, sophisticated, and aromatic drink that captures the essence of summer in every glass.

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

In a large jug, mix the juice of 2 oranges, Grand Marnier and the 750ml bottle rosé. Chill.

Just before serving, add sparkling water and lots of ice. Garnish with orange and strawberry slices, raspberries and mint leaves.

These cocktails aren’t just drinks; they’re an invitation to enjoy summer to its fullest, celebrating the art of mixology and the joy of good company. So, grab your shaker and let’s toast to a season of vibrant flavors and unforgettable moments. Cheers!
